Amalia wrote an essay on Why American Veteran's should be honored.If you double click on the photo it will blow up if you would like to read it. :)
She won 1st place from The Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ladies Auxiliary of post 7511.
After awarded 1st place, she walked up and the Veteran asked if she would read her essay to the whole school....so she did :)
WAY TO GO AMALIA!
She got $10.00 for winning first place and her essay now moves onto District 1 for judging.

Way to go, Amalia!! Did you know that I won the same contest when I was a 6th grader in Monroe?? The only difference was that I had to write a poem. I also won $10. Makes me think they need to up their prize a little bit...
